Shomrim was started in 2005 in response to a rash of burglaries within the community that proved difficult to solve. A collection of volunteers patrolled for many long hours to identify the culprits, and help police crack the case. Shomrim does not ordinarily patrol. Instead, we react quickly to reports of security problems or concerns phoned in by community members. Many hundreds of calls are fielded each year, leading to numerous arrests, recovery of stolen property, and a general improvement in citizen safety.
